Foster City’s new Hong Kong and fusion-style Cafe Kazka opens

Situated in a cozy nook overlooking the lagoon at Foster City Edgewater Place shopping center, Cafe Kazka has begun serving Hong Kong-style bites and specialty drinks.

The cafe, named for the hissing sound a carbonated drink makes when it’s opened, hails from Winnie Mo and her husband, Nicholas Chung, who met in 2015 while working at San Francisco’s Metreon. They started experimenting with making their own fruit-infused sparkling drinks during lockdown, Mo says, even making their own sparkling water.

You’ll find those drinks on the beverage lineup, as well as coconut slush and coffee and tea drinks made with both evaporated and sweetened condensed milk. Look for  Honeymoon Passion ($7), a seltzer infused with honey, lemon slices and fresh passionfruit, and a Mango Sunrise slushy ($7), made with coconut milk, coconut water and fresh mango pulp.

Chung drew on his Hong Kong roots in developing the food side of the operation with  dishes like five-spice pork belly with noodles ($14) and siu mai skewers ($5-$8).
