In the early hours of Sunday, January 5, 2025, El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of family violence at a residence in the 600 block of Zinc Place, El Paso County, Texas. Upon arrival, deputies observed the suspect leaving the scene in a gray 2024 Chevrolet pickup truck and relayed the information to assisting law enforcement agencies.
Inside the residence, deputies found 27-year-old Dafne Michelle Davila with severe stab wounds. She was transported to Del Sol Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
A coordinated effort involving the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Texas Rangers and the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office led to the apprehension of 30-year-old Jorge Albert Chavez while traveling on Interstate 20 near Pecos. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit extradited Chavez from Reeves County to El Paso, where he was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a charge of Murder. His bond is set at $1,000,000.
“This tragedy reminds us of the devastating impact domestic violence has on our community. Thanks to the strong collaboration between our partnering agencies, we were able to quickly locate and apprehend the suspect.
