Peachtree City, GA – A wind advisory is in effect for parts of central and northern Georgia until 10 a.m. Monday. Winds up to 35 mph are expected overnight, potentially causing power outages and downing tree branches. Residents are urged to secure loose items and use caution while driving.
The strongest winds will peak from midnight through Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City. Areas including Atlanta, Griffin and the Blue Ridge have an 80-90% chance of wind gusts in excess of 35 mph during this time. Winds will gradually subside by Monday afternoon, but gusts may still reach 30 mph in some areas.
Tonight’s forecast includes rain, with temperatures dropping to 45 degrees by midnight. Precipitation amounts are expected to be between a quarter to half an inch. There will be a steady drop in temperatures on Monday and temperatures will reach the mid 30s by evening.
The remaining days of the week will bring calm conditions. Tuesday will be sunny with a high near 43, followed by clear and cool nights with temperatures falling into the low 20s. Wednesday and Thursday will be dry and sunny, providing some relief after a stormy start to the week.
Residents should check local updates for possible road closures or power disruptions. Emergency personnel recommend having flashlights and charged devices on hand in case of power outages.
