PUEBLO, CO – Drivers in eastern Colorado should prepare for hazardous conditions Sunday morning as light snow and fog reduce visibility. The US National Weather Service warns of poor roads on US 50 and other major routes and urges caution during travel.
According to the National Weather Service, conditions will improve later today, with highs reaching 31°F under mostly sunny skies. However, local snowfall may continue due to strong winds. Looking ahead, temperatures will reach 42°F on Monday before snowfall begins Monday night, with some areas expected to see up to three inches of snow by Tuesday morning.
Officials recommend that motorists monitor forecasts closely and allow extra travel time, especially during the Monday evening commute. Easterly winds can impair visibility, and untreated roads can become icy.
Monday night’s snow is the start of a cold week. High temperatures on Tuesday will be near 28 degrees Fahrenheit and a 90% chance of snow, potentially creating additional hazards during the morning commute. Conditions will improve midweek, with sunny skies and temperatures reaching 33°F on Wednesday.
Residents are advised to be prepared for fluctuating temperatures, with lows dropping to single digits on Wednesday night. By Thursday, the weather will become mild, with partly sunny skies and a high near 38°F.
For those traveling through the area, keep an eye on updated forecasts and road conditions to stay safe during changing weather patterns. Emergency kits and tire chains are recommended for long distance travelers.
Stay informed and plan accordingly as wintry weather continues across the Colorado plains this week.
