Fort Worth, TX – The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory and a Cold Weather Advisory for much of North and Central Texas. Residents are urged to prepare for gusty winds and frigid temperatures over the next 24 hours.
According to the advisory, the Wind Advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, with northwest winds expected to reach speeds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. Meanwhile, a Cold Weather Advisory will take effect at midnight and continue until 10 a.m. Monday, warning of wind chills between 6 and 11 degrees above zero.
These conditions may pose challenges, including unsecured objects being blown around, difficult driving for high-profile vehicles, and an increased risk of hypothermia for those exposed to the cold for extended periods.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, limit outdoor activities, and dress in layers if venturing outside. Portable heaters should be used with caution, and generators or grills must not be operated indoors.
Keep pets indoors and check on vulnerable neighbors to ensure their safety during the cold spell.
