BALTIMORE (WBFF) — (Updated January 3, 8:40 p.m.) The Fox 45 Weather Authority has issued a *WEATHER ALERT* Monday for hazardous winter weather.
A strong low-pressure system will move east over the weekend and lead to accumulating, impactful snow across Maryland.
Ahead of the system, cold winter temperatures will arrive. First, high temperatures will barely rise above freezing tomorrow. Those going to the Ravens game will want to bundle up. Gametime temperatures will be in the upper 20s and low 30s, but with winds considered, it will feel like the upper teens and low 20s.
Sunday will be dry and cold with more clouds arriving by the afternoon before the next weather-maker arrives. Sunday will be a good day to complete any last-minute preparations for Monday’s snow.
There is a lot of uncertainty with this system, but what is known is that snow will likely begin to fall across the Baltimore metro shortly after midnight. Accumulation is also likely, which means there will be impacts for drivers.
Snow will last throughout the day on Monday and taper overnight.
It is too early to say exactly how much snow Marylanders will see, but a good first call indicates four to eight inches around Baltimore and lower totals south. These numbers will be fine tuned in the coming days.
By Tuesday, Maryland will return to a dry pattern, but the cold weather will remain. Highs will be in the low 30s with lows in the teens and low 20s.
