Pocatello, ID – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Bear River Range, where significant snowfall is expected through Monday morning. Travelers in the area are urged to be prepared for hazardous conditions as snow accumulations of between 5 and 9 inches are expected.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory began Sunday morning and will continue until 5 a.m. Monday. Snowfall is expected to intensify on Sunday evening, making roads slippery and reducing visibility. Major areas affected include Emigration Summit and surrounding roadways, where drivers should anticipate hazardous travel conditions.

Residents and visitors should avoid unnecessary travel, especially in high altitude areas. If driving is necessary, officials recommend reducing speed, using snow tires or chains, and allowing extra time to reach your destination. For real-time updates on road conditions, dial 511 or visit the Idaho Department of Transportation website.

The extended forecast shows snow continuing into Monday morning, with additional light accumulations likely. After this, conditions will improve, the sky will be mostly cloudy on Monday afternoon and the maximum temperature will be around 36 degrees. Due to partly cloudy sky the temperature will drop to a minimum of 18 degrees on Monday night.

Looking ahead, Tuesday will be sunny with a high of 31 degrees, followed by mostly clear conditions until mid-week. Low temperatures will remain cool overnight and drop into the teens. By Thursday, expect partly sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 20s, although there is another chance of snow Friday night.
