baltimore, md – A significant winter storm is set to impact the Mid-Atlantic from Sunday to Monday, bringing snow and cold temperatures. Parts of the region could see up to 8 inches of snowfall, with areas like Delmarva seeing the heaviest snowfall, according to the forecast. Virginia may see a mix of wintry weather.
According to the National Weather Service, most of the precipitation will fall as snow, causing minimal concern for flooding. The prolonged cold spell will continue and temperatures will struggle to rise above freezing next week. Experts say that this will prevent rapid snow melting but the river may freeze in the coming days.
Snowfall is expected to reduce by Tuesday morning. Residents are urged to monitor local forecasts, prepare for hazardous road conditions, and limit travel during the storm.
The National Weather Service also issued a 6 to 10 day forecast, predicting below average temperatures across the eastern United States. Experts have warned of possible disruption in daily routine as the cold increases.
