WPBN: According to the authorities, three individuals were taken into custody this week in connection with the death of a good Samaritan that occurred in Arizona a month ago.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Jack Upchurch, who is 40 years old, and Elmer Smith, who is 19 years old, were two of the three individuals that were arrested on Monday. Individual number three is sixteen years old. In general, NBC News does not identify kids who have been accused of committing crimes.
Three people were taken into custody in connection with the death of Paul Clifford, who was 53 years old. His body was discovered in the vicinity of a burning car in the northeastern part of Tucson a month ago.
In relation to the murder of Clifford, all three suspects have been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, armed robbery, arson of an occupied structure, and theft of means of transportation, according to Angelica Carrillo, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department, who made the announcement on Friday.
Sabrina Vining, a woman who claimed to be Clifford’s daughter and who participated in an online fundraising event, stated that her father vanished after he left his home at 11:30 p.m. on December 23 in order to assist a “stranger with a stranded vehicle.”
A mysterious man knocked on Clifford’s door and requested for assistance with his automobile, according to KVOA, which said that Clifford’s family reported him missing after the stranger asked for assistance with his vehicle.
He was discovered deceased at a later time, according to the sheriff’s department. Neither the cause nor the method of death was specified in the report.
The authorities stated that they had received information on Monday on a likely location for the three individuals under suspicion.
Investigators conducted a search of the area and were successful in obtaining a search warrant for a property, which was then executed by the Pima Regional SWAT team.

According to the sheriff’s department, the suspects barricaded themselves inside a house and eventually contacted 911 in order to negotiate a surrender. Following their departure from the apartment, they were hauled into arrest.
A reason for the killing of Clifford was not disclosed by the sheriff’s department, nor was any information regarding how the suspects were connected to the crime described.

As a result of felony arrest warrants, the three defendants were taken into custody and lodged into the Pima County Adult Detention Center, according to the officials.
According to the records of the jail, Upchurch was being detained on a bond of one million dollars, Smith was being held on a bond of one million and twenty-five hundred thousand dollars, and the juvenile was being held on a bond of half a million dollars.
With a post on Facebook on Tuesday, Vining expressed his approval of the news of the arrests.
“The detective called us last night at 9:00pm and told us they had suspects arrested and in custody!” Vining stated. “Thank you to the law enforcement officers that diligently worked my dad’s case.’
