New York, NY – Breezy weather and falling temperatures will dominate the weekend, with a chance of snow early in the week. The National Weather Service warned of wind gusts up to 37 mph Saturday afternoon, making travel dangerous on major thoroughfares such as the Long Island Expressway. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and use caution on the roads.
Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 35°F, but wind chills will drop into the 20s, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, temperatures will drop to 27°F, with a wind chill that will feel closer to 15°F. There will be some relief due to clear sky on Sunday, but increasing clouds are indicating snowfall on Sunday night.
There is a 60% chance of light snow from Monday afternoon through Monday night, with minor accumulations possible. Highs on Monday will reach 33°F, with winds out of the northwest at 10 mph. Nighttime lows will drop to 24°F and snowfall may continue into Tuesday morning, making roads slippery for travelers.
The coming week will be cold and humid. The high on Tuesday will be 31°F, with strong winds making it feel cold. Sunshine will return midweek, but temperatures will remain in the low 30s, allowing the cold to continue.
Residents should monitor forecasts for updates and prepare for possible snowy conditions early in the week. Those traveling Monday evening should allow extra time and keep an emergency kit in their vehicle.
