WPBN: To claim his reward, a lottery winner drove his ancient pickup truck through a snowstorm. The truck was described as “loud, red, and rusty,” and it had 849,000 miles on it. He plans to use the money to spend on upgrading his vehicle.
According to a press statement issued by lottery organizers, despite the fact that he is thrilled to acquire some new wheels, it will be “bittersweet” for him to part with a vehicle that has been good to him.
As Daniel Bragg accepted his reward on Thursday, January 2, he told the officials that the 2001 Chevrolet Suburban he drives is “a beater, but hey, it’s done pretty good.” The photograph captures him striking a pose next to his cherished vintage truck.
After scratching the ticket on New Year’s Eve, the 46-year-old man from Newton recognized that he had won the top prize of $150,000. Immediately, he thought, “I’ve got to get a car, I’ve got to get a car,” Bragg described his thoughts.
He intends to use his profits to purchase a more recent model of a little pickup truck.
“Oh, it’ll be a major upgrade. This vehicle, though, can still pull anything,” he stated. “They said they built these like a tank, and yeah, it’s a tank!”
After Bragg was awarded the top prize in the $10 “Money Gift” scratch game, there is now only one top prize of $150,000 that is still available. In total, the odds of winning are one in 2.83, according to the officials.
According to the officials, the game is one of nine scratch and InstaPlay games that are part of the Christmas promotion called “Cash Prizes are Coming to Town” that is being run by the Iowa lottery.
