Pocatello, ID — A winter weather advisory remains in effect for the Bear River Range, with significant snowfall and strong winds expected Sunday. Travelers and residents should prepare for treacherous conditions, including slick roads and reduced visibility.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory began at 5 a.m. and continues until 9 p.m. Total snow accumulation could reach 14 inches, with wind gusts up to 40 mph causing blowing and drifting snow. The NWS warns that bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads will become especially hazardous throughout the day.
Residents are urged to limit nonessential travel and check road conditions through Idaho’s 511 system before venturing out. For those needing to drive, keep emergency supplies such as blankets, water, and flashlights in your vehicle.
Sunday’s storm is part of a broader weather system affecting the region, with lingering impacts expected into Monday. After the storm clears, the five-day forecast shows calmer conditions, with temperatures in the 20s and 30s through midweek.
