Denver, CO – A winter storm is bringing snow and freezing fog to parts of Colorado this weekend, creating hazardous travel conditions. Drivers should remain alert as reduced visibility and slick roads are expected, particularly along I-25 and in mountain areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, snow will intensify Saturday evening into Sunday morning, with accumulations of up to 5 inches possible in localized areas such as Morgan, Logan, and Washington counties. Freezing fog this morning has already reduced visibility and created slippery conditions, while freezing drizzle in the northeast plains is expected to continue through Saturday afternoon.

By Sunday, snow will linger in the eastern plains before tapering off late in the day. Travelers are urged to monitor weather conditions closely and delay non-essential trips if possible.

High temperatures on Sunday will reach only 33°F, with lows dipping to 18°F. Monday and Tuesday will see a brief clearing, but another snow system is forecast for Tuesday night into Wednesday. Those planning travel should prepare for cold temperatures and further snow accumulation midweek.

Residents in affected areas should check road conditions at COtrip.org before heading out and dress warmly to prevent frostbite in subzero wind chills. Avoid using diesel-powered vehicles to minimize air pollution as the current air quality alert remains in effect for parts of the Denver metro.

Stay tuned to updates from the National Weather Service for changing forecasts and additional alerts.
