BRENTWOOD — A man with two outstanding felony warrants ran across a highway in his unsuccessful attempt to escape a police officer last week, police said.
An officer patrolling near Lone Tree Way and Slatten Ranch Road spotted the 42-year-old in a vehicle about 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 27, and tried to pull him over, according to a statement from police. The man got out of the vehicle after the stop and sprinted away, police said.
The man ran to a barrier on state Highway 4, climbed it, and sprinted across the westbound lanes, police said.
Police took him into custody when he reached the other side.
According to police, the man was wearing brass knuckles when the officer caught him. Police said that in addition to executing the felony warrants, they arrested the man on suspicion of resisting arrest and possession of illegal weapons.
Police did not disclose immediately why the felony warrants were out on the man.
