JACKSON, MS – Colder temperatures are expected across Mississippi tonight, with temperatures falling into the mid 30s in Jackson and surrounding cities. Residents should be prepared for dense fog, especially after 11 p.m., potentially affecting visibility on major roads including I-55 and Highway 49.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, overnight lows will be accompanied by calm winds and mostly clear skies, leading to frosty conditions in outlying areas. Drivers are urged to use caution during the Friday morning commute as visibility may be reduced and slippery conditions may develop.
By Friday morning the fog will clear, leaving the sky sunny and the maximum temperature will be 60 degrees. There will be light breezes throughout the day, making it an ideal opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities. However, the threat of frost will return Friday night as temperatures will again drop into the mid-30s.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will be sunny with a high around 56, but rain is expected late Saturday night. There is a 90% chance of rain on Sunday, including severe thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rain.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated on changing weather conditions and secure outdoor items ahead of Sunday night’s storm.
