South Bend, IN – Authorities have charged four people in connection with the Bissell Street shooting on July 28, 2024, which left four people injured and multiple vehicles damaged. Three suspects are still absconding.
According to the South Bend Police Department, more than 200 rounds of bullets were fired in the shooting, which left four people hospitalized. An investigation identified Deshawn Gates, 21, Jacob Pittman, 24, Turmel Reed, 20, and Giovanni Tuggle, 18, as suspects.
St. Joseph County prosecutors charged the suspects on December 31 with multiple felonies, including possession of a machine gun and criminal recklessness. Tuggle is in custody, but Gates, Pittman and Reed are still at large and are considered armed and dangerous.
