NEWPORT, N.C. — A dry cold front moving toward the Outer Banks will bring high winds and coastal flooding this weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Residents of Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands should prepare for flooding up to 2 feet above ground level beginning Friday evening and continuing through Saturday morning.
Coastal flood advisories and wind advisories are in effect, with northwest winds expected to reach 35-45 mph. Hazardous sea conditions will begin Friday afternoon and continue through Monday. Residents in low-lying areas are advised to secure property and avoid non-essential travel during peak flooding periods.

Saturday will be sunny but cold, with a high near 40°F and winds reaching 26 mph. Temperatures will rise slightly to 46°F by Sunday, but the chance of rain will increase overnight.
