POGA, Tenn. (WJHL) – A temporary bridge in the Poga and Elk Mills area of Tennessee is submerged due to floodwaters, the Carter County Sheriff’s Office reported Sunday.
Carter County Sheriff Mike Fraley said the lower temporary bridge (bridge 1) has water “just over it,” but he is confident first responders could cross in an emergency.
Fraley said the upper temporary bridge (bridge 2) is still standing, but floodwaters are slowly washing out the nearby road.
Shannon Burchett, Carter County road superintendent, is working to find a solution.
“We will make sure that all citizens are safe and have access to emergency services if needed. Updates will be given as soon as we can,” Fraley said.
