Brownlee, NE – A small earthquake struck near Brownlee on New Year’s Day, briefly shaking the Sandhills area.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck at 2:57 p.m. central time. The epicenter of the earthquake was 4 kilometers south-southwest of Brownlee at a depth of 5 kilometers.
According to the USGS, no significant damage or injuries have been reported. Local residents described brief, mild shaking, consistent with a minor earthquake.
