Twin Cities, MN – Bone-chilling cold is hitting Minnesota this weekend, with temperatures dropping well below zero. Residents in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota should prepare for below zero temperatures through Monday, as well as the possibility of light snow on Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures Thursday through Saturday will range between 5°F and 15°F during the day, with lows dropping to -5°F at night. There may be light snowfall in the area on Sunday, which will further increase the concern of cold due to wind. Highs could reach near 20°F by Monday but will remain below January averages.
Authorities have urged residents to limit outdoor contact and dress in layers to avoid frostbite. Check for vulnerable neighbors, make sure pets are indoors, and prepare vehicles for icy conditions. The weather service emphasizes monitoring road conditions, as light snowfall could make travel slippery Sunday.
With a backdrop of snow-covered lakes, Minnesotans are still making the most of winter, enjoying ice skating and other outdoor activities despite the bitter cold.
