DETROIT, MI – Snow and cold temperatures are expected across Southeast Michigan Friday morning, making untreated roads potentially dangerous. Residents are urged to use caution, especially during morning commutes.
Light snowfall could result in up to an inch of snow south of I-96, according to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac. Temperatures will drop into the 20s overnight, creating icy conditions on untreated surfaces. Gusty winds up to 22 mph can further complicate visibility and driving.
Looking ahead, Friday will be mostly cloudy with highs near 30°F and lows dropping into the teens by nightfall. Saturday brings similar conditions, with high temperatures in the mid 20s and a chance of flurries. Sunday will bring some relief with partly sunny skies, although temperatures will remain cool in the upper 20s.
For those planning to travel this weekend, expect the cold to continue through Monday and Tuesday, with lows dropping into the teens and highs barely reaching 30°F. Snow is predicted early next week, which could further impact driving conditions.
Residents should monitor local weather updates and prepare their vehicles for winter travel. Avoid unnecessary trips during extreme snowfall and keep an emergency kit on hand.
