In a remarkable evolution from viral sensation to entrepreneur, Toco, the Japanese man who captured global attention for his $14,000 hyperrealistic collie costume, is set to inaugurate an unprecedented entertainment venue. The Tocotoco Zoo, opening January 26 in Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, promises to fulfill visitors’ dreams of experiencing life as an animal.
“Have you ever wanted to be an animal? Have you ever imagined yourself as something other than yourself and felt excited?” reads the zoo’s official website, encapsulating its unique vision.
A dream transformed into reality
The establishment, described on its website as “a place where your wish to become an animal comes true,” represents a bold step in experiential entertainment. Visitors will have the opportunity to don a meticulously crafted, life-sized Alaskan Malamute costume, complete with realistic features including a wagging tail and articulated mouth movements.
Tocotoco Zoo: Experience details and restrictions
The zoo’s private sessions, priced at 49,000 yen (approximately $311), offer small groups the chance to live out their animal transformation fantasies. However, the experience comes with specific physical requirements: participants must fall within a height range of 4 feet 11 inches to 5 feet 11 inches to ensure proper fit of the costume. Groups are limited to three visitors per booking.
