Dashcam footage shows the beginning of the end of a high-speed chase on a Florida highway.
State troopers say that is Jovontae Danard Henderson, 52, in a BMW swerving behind a patrol vehicle. The point-of-view dashcam is a vehicle pulling up the rear.
The back of the BMW clips the front of the rear vehicle, causing them both to crash. Though the trooper came to a stop, the suspect vehicle managed to remain mobile, if worse for the wear. The trooper at the front, however, managed to box in the BMW.
Henderson is currently locked up without bond at the Falkenberg Road Jail in Hillsborough County, records show. On top of being held on an out-of-county warrant for a fraud case, he is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, fleeing to elude, and a driving with a license canceled, suspended, or revoked as a third offense. The trooper who crashed sustained “minor injury” and received treatment from paramedics at the scene, according to documents obtained by Law&Crime.

“I accelerated with the BMW and was able to conduct a second rolling roadblock,” wrote the trooper in the front. “Trooper Durham prepared to conduct a PIT maneuver, but the BMW swerved hard to the left and struck the front right of his patrol unit (FHP1969) before the maneuver could be performed. This action forced FHP1969 off the roadway to the left and into the concrete barrier in the median. The impact caused the side curtain airbags to deploy and immobilized FHP1969. The BMW was also disabled, but the driver attempted to continue to flee. I positioned my patrol unit directly ahead of the BMW, as it came to a stop, also immobilized, approximately 0.5 miles east of the initial traffic stop attempt.”
