Tennessee, KY – A winter storm system is expected to bring rain and possible snow to the area Sunday through Monday. According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, areas near the Tennessee-Kentucky border are at the highest risk of snow accumulation.
Forecasters expect rain to fall across most areas, but colder northern areas could experience a cold snap from Sunday morning. The Arkansas–Missouri and Tennessee–Kentucky state lines are particularly vulnerable to icy conditions. This storm signals the arrival of the coldest air of the season, which may continue into next week.
The National Weather Service says uncertainties remain, including how far south the freezing rain could extend and whether conditions will allow snow accumulation. Residents are advised to keep a close eye on the forecasts and be prepared for severe cold.
Precautionary measures include stocking up on essential items, checking vehicle readiness and planning for possible power outages. Freezing rain can slick roads and create hazardous travel conditions.
