WPBN: The horrifying video footage reveals the moment witnesses run for their lives during a brazen shooting that took place at a bodega in the Bronx on Monday.
The attack resulted in six people being injured, including a mother who was used as a human shield and its little daughter.
The video footage shows that people were running down White Plains Road at approximately 4:50 p.m. when shots were fired at G&W Grocery. At that time, the gunfire were heard.
During the time when the suspects were fleeing, a local shopkeeper ended up rescuing an elderly woman by bringing her inside his establishment.
According to the police, the assailants followed two persons into the bodega and opened firing on them. The cowardly targets grabbed the mother, who was forty years old, and used her as a shield while the rounds continued to ring out.
During the incident, the mother was shot in the stomach, and her daughter, who was 12 years old, was injured in the right thigh, according to the police.
At a conference on Monday night, NYPD Chief of Department John Chell stated, “If you can imagine, mom and daughter are up against the counter, and the two intended targets come in and bump into them and turn the mother around as they are being shot at.”

Police are attempting to ascertain a reason for the shooting, which the chief described as “heartless.”
Four additional individuals, all men between the ages of 18 and 21, were also struck and sustained various injuries to their arms, legs, and buttocks. According to authorities, the patients had non-life-threatening injuries and were sent to nearby hospitals.

Adama, a witness who works at a nearby grocery store, told on Tuesday that “After the shots, people started running. I had three customers in here, and they ran. One customer got his food, and then he ran. The other two customers, they didn’t wait. They were scared..”
“When you hear something like that — boom, boom — usually it’s shooting,” Adama, 29 stated. “I stood there. I didn’t go outside. It’s not safe.”
According to the CCTV footage, one individual can be seen fleeing the area, and only a few moments later, two further individuals can be seen fleeing down the block as well.
It has been reported by the police that the suspects are still at large while the investigation is ongoing.
