WPBN: After allegedly stabbing her boyfriend’s dog multiple times, a Florida woman was taken into custody. Megan Lynn Mileskiewicz, 23, is accused with animal abuse and peacefully resisting arrest, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
The community is in shock following the upsetting incident that happened on Sunday morning.
According to the sheriff’s office, a 911 call was received at around 10:45 a.m., and deputies were sent out to respond. The caller, an eyewitness, stated that a woman was viciously stabbing her boyfriend’s dog inside their home. The event took place in the Hernando County suburb of Spring Hill.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found that Mileskiewicz had left the house. Police were notified by witnesses that she had left the house through the back door. Following a check of the surrounding area, deputies discovered Mileskiewicz hiding in the backyard.
She was hidden by dense shrubs, laying face down behind a work shed. She refused to come out of her hiding place when deputies ordered her to. After a while, she was dragged out of the bushes and arrested.
It was determined that the injured dog, a 2-year-old pit bull, had two serious cuts on its behind, each two to three inches long.
Deputies observed that the wounds were still continuously bleeding when they arrived, although neither was life-threatening. The dog’s condition was stabilized after prompt medical intervention.
The deputies received crucial testimony from witnesses at the scene.
One person described how Mileskiewicz grew unexpectedly angry with the dog without any warning. According to reports, she took out a pocketknife and started piercing the animal. The person immediately called 911 for help after seeing the frightening conduct.
Mileskiewicz was informed of her Miranda Rights while being questioned by detectives. She apparently acknowledged the attack during her statement, saying the dog was “bothering” her.

She said that she had lost her temper and called what she had done a “mistake.” But from the perspective of law enforcement, her explanation did little to lessen the incident’s seriousness.
After that, Mileskiewicz was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center. She has been officially charged with both animal cruelty and peacefully resisting arrest, according to court documents.
A $3,500 bond has been set for her. Animal welfare activists have voiced their displeasure over the occurrence, and authorities are still looking into it.
