Marysville, OH – A weak EF0 tornado touched down briefly near Marysville on Sunday, leaving minor damage in its wake.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the tornado struck at approximately 3:08 p.m., with peak winds reaching 70 mph. The storm traveled 0.35 miles near Payne Road, about two miles southwest of Marysville in Union County.
The tornado caused structural damage to a barn and toppled several trees. A silo collapsed, and another barn sustained partial roof uplift and wall damage. Additionally, nearby woods saw several trees snapped during the storm.
Emergency management teams quickly surveyed the scene, confirming no injuries or fatalities. Union County Emergency Management coordinated with the NWS to assess the damage and confirm the tornado’s classification.
The tornado’s path was 50 yards wide at its maximum, and it ended after just one minute at 3:09 p.m. The damage was consistent with the EF0 rating on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, which measures tornado intensity.
The NWS highlighted the importance of timely storm assessments and thanked Union County for its assistance. Though classified as weak, the tornado served as a reminder of the need to remain vigilant during severe weather events.
