San Francisco, CA – A freeze warning remains in effect for parts of the Bay Area from Monday evening through Tuesday morning. Sub-freezing temperatures are expected to drop as low as 29 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, the warning applies to the North Bay Interior Mountains, North Bay Valleys, Eastern Santa Clara Hills, and areas of the Central Coast, including Salinas Valley. The advisory starts at 8 p.m. Monday and ends at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The cold weather poses risks to sensitive populations, crops, and unprotected pipes. Residents should take precautions to protect outdoor plumbing by wrapping pipes or allowing faucets to drip slowly. Homeowners are also advised to open sink cabinet doors to prevent frozen pipes.
Unhoused individuals are particularly at risk in these conditions. Local authorities urge residents to check on vulnerable neighbors and ensure pets are brought indoors. Frost may damage vegetation and outdoor plants without adequate protection.
Temperatures may stay low Tuesday night, and additional advisories could follow. The National Weather Service recommends turning off sprinklers to prevent icy sidewalks.
