Aurora Firefighters Battle Two-Alarm Blaze on Superior Street, Displacing Family of Five

Aurora, IL – Firefighters in Aurora responded to a two-alarm fire Saturday evening that left a family of five displaced. Crews arrived at approximately 7:36 PM to find heavy fire engulfing the front of a 2½-story home in the 400 block of Superior Street.

Firefighters launched an aggressive attack, with engine companies extinguishing flames on the first floor before advancing to upper levels. Truck companies conducted searches to confirm no occupants were inside.

The fire was controlled within 24 minutes and fully extinguished in under 1½ hours. Unfortunately, a bird and a cat perished in the blaze, though firefighters rescued a lizard.

The home was declared uninhabitable, and the Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary accommodations.
