Binghamton, NY – Central New York will see scattered showers today with mild temperatures ahead of a cooler and potentially snowy week. Residents should prepare for rain during New Year’s Eve celebrations and snow chances by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday’s high will reach 47°F with showers most likely between noon and 4 p.m. Winds from the southwest could gust up to 22 mph, potentially impacting travel on Route 17 and I-81. Tonight, decreasing clouds and calmer winds will bring temperatures down to 30°F.
On Tuesday, partly sunny skies will give way to slight afternoon showers with a high near 48°F. Rain will intensify overnight, turning into a mix of rain and snow on New Year’s Day as temperatures dip to 28°F. Wednesday’s forecast predicts highs near 41°F but includes an 80% chance of snow showers, particularly in the evening.
Looking ahead, Thursday could bring additional snow showers as colder air settles into the region. Lows will drop to 23°F, with a high of only 33°F during the day. Friday and Saturday will remain mostly cloudy and cold, with daytime highs struggling to exceed the low 30s.
Travelers should monitor updated forecasts, especially for New Year’s Day when mixed precipitation could create slick conditions. Consider adjusting travel plans to avoid peak precipitation times.
