Fort Wayne, IN – A Rainy and Snowy New Year’s Eve Forecast for Indiana Residents

Northern Indiana is preparing for a mix of rain and snow as Fort Wayne heads into New Year’s Eve. With precipitation expected to intensify on Tuesday, residents should plan for potential travel disruptions and icy conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin late Monday night, transitioning to a mix of rain and snow on Tuesday afternoon. Temperatures will hover near 39°F during the day and dip to 30°F overnight, increasing the risk of slick roads on major routes, including I-69 and US-30. Wind gusts could reach 30 mph, adding to potential hazards.

The rain and snow will taper off by New Year’s Day, leaving mostly cloudy skies with a high near 33°F. However, colder air will settle in by midweek, with temperatures plunging to 23°F on Wednesday night and a slight chance of snow by Thursday night.

Five-Day Forecast for Fort Wayne:

Monday Night: Rain begins after 1 a.m., low of 36°F.

Tuesday: Rain and snow mix after noon, high of 39°F. Gusty winds.

New Year’s Day: Mostly cloudy, high of 33°F.

Wednesday Night: Low of 23°F, partly cloudy skies.

Thursday: High of 30°F, slight chance of overnight snow.
