Huntsville, AL – Mild conditions in northern Alabama will give way to rain and plunging temperatures as the week progresses. Travelers on I-65 should prepare for wet roads Tuesday evening as a cold front moves into the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, a slight chance of rain exists east of I-65 Tuesday night, with precipitation likely after 8 p.m. Winds could gust up to 25 mph, reducing visibility on the road. Daytime highs will reach a mild 58°F on Tuesday before dropping sharply to 38°F overnight.
By Wednesday, the cold front will usher in much colder air. Morning lows will range from 24°F to 28°F, and afternoon highs will struggle to reach 49°F. Winds will shift from the northwest, bringing drier but brisk conditions. Thursday and Friday will remain sunny, with highs hovering around 47°F. Overnight lows on both nights will dip into the upper 20s, making frost likely.
Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor plants and pipes before the midweek freeze and monitor road conditions Tuesday night. Clear skies and calm winds will dominate the New Year’s weekend, but temperatures are expected to stay below seasonal averages.
