La Crosse, WI – Travelers in Wisconsin are advised to exercise caution today as dense fog reduces visibility to less than a quarter mile in many areas. Slick spots are possible on roadways as temperatures hover near freezing.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, the Dense Fog Advisory will remain in effect until noon today, with hazardous driving conditions reported on highways including I-90 and local roads. Drivers are urged to use low-beam headlights, reduce speeds, and maintain a safe distance between vehicles to avoid accidents.
Looking ahead, today’s high will reach 39°F with patchy fog lingering into the evening. Tonight, skies will remain mostly cloudy, and temperatures will dip to 32°F. On Monday, the fog could return early, but conditions will clear by mid-morning, with a high of 39°F expected.
By midweek, colder air will settle in, with temperatures dropping to a low of 19°F Tuesday night. New Year’s Day will bring partly sunny skies and a high near 24°F, offering a dry but chilly start to 2025. Winds will remain gusty through Wednesday, potentially impacting outdoor festivities.
