TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A tornado watch remains in effect for much of North Florida until 9 a.m. Sunday as severe storms move eastward across the region. Communities along the I-10 corridor, including Tallahassee and surrounding counties, are urged to stay alert for dangerous weather conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, the storms could bring damaging winds up to 70 mph, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. The affected counties include Leon, Madison, and Wakulla, with severe weather already reported overnight. Residents should avoid unnecessary travel and secure outdoor items.
The storms are expected to clear by Sunday afternoon, leaving behind partly cloudy skies and a high of 74 degrees. Overnight, dense fog may develop, particularly in low-lying areas. Drivers are advised to use caution as visibility could drop significantly.
Looking ahead, Monday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-70s. New Year’s Eve is forecasted to bring cooler temperatures, with highs near 61 degrees and clear skies expected for celebrations.
Stay tuned for updates and take immediate shelter if tornado warnings are issued. Monitor local weather stations and have emergency supplies on hand.
