Naples, FL – A Flood Watch is in effect for Collier County until 7 p.m. Sunday as persistent rainfall continues across the area. Residents should prepare for localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas and along roadways such as US 41 and Immokalee Road.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Miami, rainfall is expected to increase through the afternoon and taper off by the evening. Some areas, including Naples and Everglades City, could see totals exceeding 3 inches. Motorists are urged to avoid flooded roads and exercise caution during the evening commute.
Beyond Sunday, a chance of isolated thunderstorms remains through Monday, with a slight clearing expected by New Year’s Eve. Temperatures will stay warm, reaching highs near 78°F on Monday and New Year’s Day. Breezy conditions, with gusts up to 22 mph, will add to the stormy feel early in the week.
A high risk of rip currents is also in place for all Atlantic beaches through Wednesday. Residents planning beach outings should heed warnings and avoid swimming in rough surf.
Looking ahead, New Year’s Day offers some relief with mostly sunny skies and highs nearing 80°F. By midweek, temperatures will dip slightly with cooler, dry conditions expected.
Stay updated by monitoring NWS advisories and local alerts. Avoid unnecessary travel during downpours and secure outdoor items to prevent storm damage.
