Wilmington, NC – A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 5 p.m. Sunday for multiple counties in southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina. The National Weather Service warns of the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes in the affected areas.
According to the National Weather Service, the North Carolina counties under the watch include Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Pender, and Robeson. In South Carolina, Dillon, Georgetown, Horry, and Marion counties are also included in the advisory.
Residents in cities such as Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Leland, Lumberton, Conway, and Southport should remain vigilant and monitor local weather updates. Areas of concern include coastal communities like Oak Island, Surf City, and Murrells Inlet, where severe weather can develop rapidly.
The public is advised to secure outdoor objects, avoid unnecessary travel, and seek shelter indoors if storms approach. Updates will be provided as conditions evolve throughout the afternoon.
