Pittsburgh, PA – Strong winds and heavy showers will sweep through southwestern Pennsylvania today as a wind advisory takes effect. Gusts up to 45 mph could make travel hazardous, particularly along I-376, while scattered power outages are possible across the region.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will remain in place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. Winds from the southwest are expected to reach 18 to 20 mph, with occasional gusts exceeding 40 mph. Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects, avoid unnecessary travel, and be cautious of falling branches.
Rain is also likely today, with temperatures climbing to an unseasonable high of 66 degrees. The showers are expected to taper off overnight as temperatures drop to the low 40s. Monday will bring cooler conditions, with a high of 50 degrees and wind gusts decreasing to around 30 mph.
Looking ahead, New Year’s Eve could see steady rain transitioning into snow overnight. Highs on Tuesday are forecast at 39 degrees, with temperatures dropping below freezing by Wednesday morning. Light snow accumulation is possible, leading to slippery roadways for holiday travelers.
