Peoria County, IL – A 17-year-old girl died Saturday in a single-vehicle crash near Princeville, according to authorities.
Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the crash at 12:57 p.m. near Parks School Road and Elliott Road. Investigators determined the teen’s car left the westbound lane, veered off the hillcrest, and struck a tree. Deputies reported no other passengers in the vehicle.
The teen was pronounced dead at the scene. Brimfield Fire Department and BYE Ambulance assisted first responders. The Peoria County Coroner will release her identity after notifying her family.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the accident. No details on possible factors contributing to the crash were immediately released. The victim was a resident of Princeville.
The sheriff’s office expressed their condolences to the teen’s family. This tragedy marks another reminder of the importance of road safety during the holidays.
