Memphis, TN — Dense fog and severe storms are set to disrupt travel and outdoor plans across Memphis today, creating hazardous conditions for drivers. The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory through 9 a.m., with visibility as low as a quarter mile in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service, scattered thunderstorms are expected to intensify by this afternoon, potentially producing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and localized flooding. Rainfall totals could reach up to two inches in certain areas, particularly near I-55. Residents are urged to drive with caution and avoid low-lying flood-prone roads.
Looking ahead, Sunday will bring a 30% chance of showers in the early morning, giving way to mostly sunny skies by the afternoon, with a high near 61 degrees. Monday’s forecast promises calmer weather, with sunny conditions and a high near 63 degrees, but gusts of up to 25 mph are possible.
By New Year’s Eve on Tuesday, temperatures will remain mild, reaching 54 degrees under partly sunny skies, though cooler conditions are expected overnight with a low near 37.
