Oklahoma Woman Taken into Custody After Baby Found Abandoned at Florida Casino

WPBN: On Tuesday, December 24, Rubi Verduzco, 29, was arrested in connection with a child negligence incident. Allegations that Verduzco left her infant at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, are the basis for the charges. She faces two felony counts of child neglect in connection with the case, according to authorities.

When a police officer answered a call at the casino on Christmas Eve, the situation became apparent.

The Seminole Police Department’s probable cause affidavit states that the officer found a dirty diapered baby near the casino’s bell desk, left out in the open. According to witness testimonies, three males allegedly abandoned the youngster at the scene before leaving. Before the authorities arrived, the baby was allegedly left alone for around half an hour.

According to reports, Verduzco showed up on the site roughly fifteen minutes after the policeman arrived. She allegedly argued with the child’s father, known as her “Baby Daddy,” and left the youngster with unidentified pals, according to the affidavit. She could not, however, give any names or any information on these people.

According to the officer’s views, Verduzco seemed quite drunk at the time of the event. According to reports, she displayed symptoms of intoxication, such as watery and bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and a strong alcohol odor on her breath.

Verduzco apparently knew the baby’s name when asked about it, but she couldn’t recall the precise date of the baby’s birth, which raised more questions about her capacity to care for the child.

According to the affidavit, Verduzco called a guy she said was the baby’s father. The man first claimed to be in Oklahoma and recommended that the state take custody of the youngster.

He later got in touch with the police once more, though, and disclosed that he was in fact in Orlando, Florida, but he wasn’t sure if he could make the trip to the Hard Rock Hotel to pick up the youngster.

Authorities were unable to confirm the man’s identify as the baby’s biological father in spite of his claims.

Verduzco was placed under arrest based on the facts and evidence, which included her apparent intoxication and ignorance of her child’s whereabouts. According to the arrest document, Verduzco was arrested because she was unable to prove that she knew who was in charge of her child, where the child had been, or how long the child had been left alone.

In order to protect the child, the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) intervened and took the baby into care. According to NBC6, Verduzco was then arrested and placed on bond of $2,500 at the Broward County Jail.
