North Little Rock, AR – A 17-year-old boy was killed, and two others were injured early Saturday in a shooting on Interstate 40.
Arkansas State Police said the shooting occurred near Protho Junction around 3:45 a.m. A 20-year-old Little Rock man drove three injured teens to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
The 17-year-old victim, shot multiple times, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Authorities identified the other injured individuals as an 18-year-old and another 17-year-old. The 18-year-old was treated and released, while the other teen remains hospitalized.
Two additional passengers, ages 16 and 18, were unharmed in the incident.
The deceased will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for further examination. Investigators have not disclosed details about suspects or the motive.
State police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. They urge anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
