HOUSTON, TX – A crash involving a motorcycle and a Chevy Malibu resulted in the death of a female passenger and left the motorcyclist injured early Saturday morning.
The incident occurred around 2:43 a.m. in the 2000 block of Fry Road. According to police, a 30-year-old female driving a Chevy Malibu was stopped in the northbound left-turn lane before turning in front of a northbound motorcycle, causing a collision.
The impact ejected both the male motorcyclist and his female passenger from the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in downtown Houston, while the female passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police reported that the driver of the Malibu showed signs of intoxication, and a DWI investigation is underway. The investigation is also examining potential contributing factors, including speed.
Authorities stated that charges could be upgraded to intoxication manslaughter pending the outcome of the investigation.
