Georgia’s Dense Fog Advisory Continues Today: Driving Conditions Hazardous on I-75 and Surrounding Areas

Atlanta, GA – Dense fog is blanketing much of Georgia this morning, leading to hazardous travel conditions across major roadways, including I-75. Motorists are urged to exercise caution as visibility is reduced to less than a quarter-mile in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday. The advisory spans from Atlanta and surrounding suburbs to areas as far south as Macon. Low visibility has already caused delays and minor accidents in some locations. Drivers should reduce speeds, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles.

The advisory follows a week of fluctuating temperatures and higher-than-average humidity, which contributed to dense fog development overnight. The five-day forecast indicates clearing skies by Saturday afternoon, but a cooling trend is expected as the New Year approaches. Highs will drop into the mid-40s by Monday, with overnight lows reaching freezing. Rain showers are also predicted late Monday into Tuesday.

This weather pattern may affect New Year’s Eve plans across the region. Travelers should plan ahead, allowing extra time to navigate potentially slick and foggy conditions.
