Fatal Home Invasion in Florida: Suspect Arrested After Brief Manhunt

WPBN: According to Chief Rick Wells of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, a couple was left scared after two masked men stormed into their home the day after Christmas. This prompted the husband to shoot and kill one of the intruders.

A residence located in the River Club neighborhood of Bradenton was the location of the incident, which took place on Thursday evening about nine o’clock.

After spending the evening at home, the husband received a notification from the home security cameras that motion had been spotted on the side of the house.

The pair had been enjoying their evening together. While the man was checking the cameras, Wells stated that he saw two men in masks trying to break into the building from the outside.

According to reports, he instructed his wife to withdraw to a secure location and then collected his firearm before proceeding to a separate bedroom or office, where he was “immediately” approached by one of the perpetrators of the masked invasion.

The masked individual who was already inside the house was struck by the homeowner’s weapon at least three times throughout the course of the incident. After climbing through the window, the other masked intruder hurriedly retreated from the residence and fled, according to Wells.

He was crawling through the glass.

After some time had passed, the supposed intruder was located by sheriff’s K-9s and deputies just a few blocks away from the scene of the crime, and they took him into custody.

According to Wells, the individual who was shot eventually passed away as a result of his injuries on Friday morning.

Wells stated that they are continuing their efforts to positively identify the individuals who are being accused of invading the building.

According to him, the sheriff’s office is collaborating with the Border Patrol since the man who survived is supposedly “of Chilean descent.” He entered the country in California from Chile and was issued a visa that was valid for ninety days, but it has already expired.

It is believed that the individual had traveled from California to Tampa and was staying in a hotel when the incident occurred approximately six days ago.

Following that, it is said that he and the deceased man made the decision to travel to Manatee County in order to carry out their claimed criminal act.

The investigation into the possible motivations of the two individuals, as well as whether or not they purposefully targeted the residence, is still ongoing, according to Wells.

According to Wells, police are investigating to determine whether or not any burglaries that occurred in the neighborhood on previous nights could be connected to the two individuals, despite the fact that they did not attempt to break into anybody else’s home on Thursday night.
