Shreveport, LA – A tornado watch remains in effect for parts of Louisiana and Texas until 2 a.m. CST Friday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the alert for areas including Natchitoches, Alexandria, Jasper, and Port Arthur. Officials warn of possible strong tornadoes, hail up to the size of golf balls, and wind gusts reaching 65 mph.
According to the NWS, the tornado watch affects more than 1 million residents, 484 schools, and 72 hospitals in the region. Residents are urged to monitor weather updates and prepare for rapid changes in conditions.
Local authorities emphasize the importance of having a safety plan in place. Move to a sturdy interior room on the lowest floor of your home if a tornado warning is issued.
Severe weather threats will taper off after midnight. Emergency services remain on alert to assist affected communities.
