Albuquerque, NM – Warmer-than-average temperatures will dominate New Mexico heading into the weekend, offering mild conditions for post-Christmas travelers. Highs on Friday are set to range from the 30s in the northern mountains to the 60s in the eastern plains.
According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, light rain and snow showers may develop Friday, primarily in northwestern and north-central regions. These showers are expected to remain minimal, with no significant accumulation forecasted. Travelers on key routes such as I-40 near Gallup should remain cautious as isolated precipitation could create slick conditions in higher elevations.
Temperatures will continue to climb into the weekend, with highs reaching the mid-50s to 60s in Albuquerque, Roswell, and Tucumcari. Northern mountain regions, including Taos and Chama, will experience highs in the 30s to 40s, with overnight lows dropping below freezing.
By Saturday and Sunday, unseasonably warm weather will persist, with temperatures nearing 70 degrees in southeastern areas such as Hobbs and Carlsbad. Dry conditions are expected across most of the state, making it ideal for holiday travel and outdoor activities.
The forecast calls for a shift early next week, with cooler temperatures and a slight chance of precipitation returning by Tuesday. Residents and visitors are encouraged to monitor local forecasts for updates.
