North Platte, NE – Residents of Custer, Lincoln, Hayes, and Frontier counties are being urged to prepare for icy conditions as a Winter Weather Advisory takes effect tonight at 9 p.m. and continues through 9 a.m. Thursday.
The National Weather Service in North Platte issued the advisory due to expected patchy freezing drizzle and freezing fog, which may create slippery roads and sidewalks. These hazardous conditions could complicate travel, particularly during the early morning hours.
According to the National Weather Service, the freezing drizzle will be most impactful in areas prone to ice accumulation, such as bridges and shaded roads. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and remain cautious while traveling.
Nebraska 511 provides real-time road conditions and updates to assist travelers in planning safer routes. The advisory encourages residents to limit travel when possible and use extra care on untreated surfaces.
