Chicago, IL – Motorists across northern Illinois, particularly near and north of the I-88 corridor, are facing challenging conditions as dense fog reduces visibility to near zero in some areas tonight. The National Weather Service issued a Dense Fog Advisory until 9 p.m., warning drivers to anticipate sudden reductions in visibility.
According to the National Weather Service Chicago, the patchy fog will persist through late evening, posing risks for evening commuters. Motorists are urged to slow down, increase following distances, and use low beams when navigating affected areas.
Lingering fog may continue overnight north of I-88, accompanied by light rain. Temperatures will remain mild, with lows between 41 and 44 degrees. Rain is also expected Friday into Friday night, with unseasonably warm highs nearing 50 degrees.
