Get a Fresh Smile: Columbia Dental Hygiene Center Offers Free Cleanings for the Holidays

WPBN: The staff at Columbia Dental Hygiene Center was hard at work giving back to the community on Christmas morning, while many others spent the day opening presents.

The dentist office opened on Christmas Day for the third consecutive year, providing free tooth cleanings to those in need.

According to Nikos Mohammadi, a team member at the center, “People like giving back, We’re all very happy to do that.”

Patients received free dental care from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and many expressed their appreciation for the chance to maintain their smiles without having to worry about the expense.

It was noted by Dr. Abbas Mohammadi, the proprietor of the practice, that the occasion is meaningful to him on a particularly deep level.

“It touches my heart that they are willing to come here and help the community,” he stated.

During the time that families were gathering at their homes, the dental team was busy giving free cleanings to everybody who came to the office.

A person named Alex Ramos, who was in and out of the office in a span of twenty minutes, was one of the individuals who received free treatment.

Ramos conveyed his gratitude because of the prompt and efficient service that was provided.

“20 minutes. That’s it? he said with a grin on his face.

Although it is recommended by the American Dental Association that individuals receive two cleanings year, it may be difficult for some individuals to maintain these necessary visits due to financial restrictions.

“Most of the patients I saw today desperately needed a cleaning,” Dr. Mohammadi staated. “Every time we do these free cleanings, we see patients are coming with very heavy build up. That means these patients really overdue for their cleaning.”

For the purpose of spreading holiday cheer, a care package containing essentials such as toothbrushes and floss was given to each individual patient.

The happiness of the day was being shared by Dr. Mohammadi, who said, “It just makes you feel good.”

Just the act of giving that to the community brings you nothing but happiness. Seeing the gratitude on their faces and hearing their professions of gratitude is something that means a great deal to us.

Not only did the holiday initiative of the Columbia Dental Hygiene Center bring smiles to the faces of individuals who benefited from the free service, but it also diffused kindness throughout the neighborhood.

Even as the year draws to a close, the kindness of the Mohammadi family continues to shine brightly.
