Fort Worth, TX – North Texans are advised to prepare for severe thunderstorms Thursday as holiday travel intensifies across the region. Heavy rain, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes are possible from late morning into the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, thunderstorms are likely to develop Thursday morning, with the strongest activity occurring between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Areas along I-35, including Fort Worth, Dallas, and Waco, are at an elevated risk for severe conditions. Hail and localized flooding could also impact travel plans. Drivers are urged to monitor local forecasts and avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding.

Holiday travelers should have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, such as NOAA weather radios or smartphone apps, to stay informed throughout the day. NWS forecasts predict rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch, with heavier amounts possible in isolated areas.

Conditions will improve Thursday evening as storms exit the region. The extended forecast calls for sunny skies on Friday and throughout the weekend, with highs near 70 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. Morning fog could briefly impact visibility on Friday.

Residents should review emergency plans and secure outdoor decorations and structures before the storms arrive. Stay tuned to the NWS and local news outlets for updates.
